Keep Keen & Evergreen

Howdy! My name is Kenia Lorena and I'm the owner of Tom's Sunshine Studio! I am a surrealist artist at heart, but corporeally - I'm a mountain gal running amuck in Durango, Colorado.

I am originally from Kansas City, but my roots also remain in Guatemalan. During my time in Kansas City, I stumbled upon my querencia which was painting.
Since then, painting has been the ultimate form of communication for me, and most days, it is my most fluent form of expression.

I started this shop after an odd encounter I had at my previous job a few years back. A co-worker had gone hiking in Moab, Utah and this person brought me a box of ethically sourced bones she found out in the desert. I had absolutely no clue what I was going to do with them - but they intrigued me. I don't recall the day or the moment I decided to start hand-painting them, but after painting for so many years - this new experience revivified my sense of venturing into the unknown.

As I started "bone hunting" or scrounging for bones more and more, I started to view this adventure in a new light - today, I mosey on with the desire to share these unique and harmonious interactions between life and death.

Thank you kindly and

keep keen & evergreen.
